Proposal Pitch Guide
| A PLACE TO PITCH YOUR IDEAS ON SPECIAL EVENTS, PANELS, PRESENTATIONS, WORKING GROUPS, AND COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH LABS |
Much like the Blog Pitch Guide, this guide gives prospective participants (proposers/submitters) an idea of how we include new ideas and events into our existing organization.
Generally, the Executive Board is in touch with submitters within 7 business days of proposal submission, via email (eoldeathscholars@gmail.com).

TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL, FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS.
In a Word document, provide the following items:
I. Title of Project and Author(s)
- Include a working title
- Include the author and/or event facilitator name(s)
- Include contact information (email, etc.)
- Include your current institution/workplace
II. Purpose of Project
- State how your project might create an impact in end-of-life, death, and bereavement/grief scholarship and/or public address
- State the intended audience for the project
III. Materials for Project
- Estimated Cost (if any)
- Website Support Items
- Networking Support Items
- Provide any published works or scholarship references (from your own research or the research of others) that would help the Executive Board understand your project proposal and its connection to our organization.
IV. Partnerships
- Who, in the current End-of-Life and Death Scholars network + organization, would you like to partner with on this project? Why? (How might this proposed partnership ideally create a successful project?)
V. Timeline for Completion/Execution
- Provide a start date
- Provide a completion date
(If this is an ongoing project or a research lab proposal, provide an outline of what the first year of activity may involve.)
VI. Relevance
- How is your project relevant and/or salient to the End of Life and Death Scholars' Mission and Values statements?

Disclaimer
1. The End of Life & Death Scholars organization cannot guarantee that your project will be made manifest for two reasons:
a. Volunteer Capacity. We are a scholarship network and organization that has specific time limitations, due to our multiple roles as researchers, teaching faculty members, graduate students, and event facilitators. We are responsible for facilitating multiple tiers of organizational communication and require a high level of personal accountability in our involvement.
Please keep in mind that we can only accept proposals wherein the proposer/submitter takes a large responsibility for organizing autonomously and strategically. We can help to leverage our network and platform for your work, but many of our volunteer organizers cannot manifest follow-through on behalf of submitters/proposers. All of our current event facilitators, research, and working groups are responsible for their own projects, outputs, timelines, and publications. The End of Life and Death Scholars organization provides the platform, and support that can be offered/negotiated over time, but proposers/submitters are ultimately responsible for manifesting their individual projects.
b. Salience/Relevance. If the proposal does not align with our organizational goals, mission, or strategic plan, it is highly unlikely that a proposal for a new activity, event, or ongoing research project will be accepted at this time. (We will do our best to provide thorough, accurate, and ethical feedback on complete, submitted proposals.)
2. Submitters/Proposers provide information at their own discretion. We will not solicit the following information from you:
a. Personal Information. We will not ask for any personal information, including (but not limited to) passwords, or personal narratives involving grief, dying, or death-related situations that may be personally traumatic. We do not share any information that you provide of your own volition. Be aware that the eoldeathscholars@gmail.com email is not a clinical, medical, or HIPAA-approved space for personal correspondence.
b. Qualifiers. No letters of recommendation or petitions are required to submit a proposal.
3. EOL/Death Scholars are not represented by a singular/individual scholar. All ideas, publications, images, and words are owned by individual scholars and do not represent a consensus across the EOL/Death Scholars organization. All website content is generously provided by scholars volunteering time and information at their own discretion.
SEND THE PROPOSAL
Complete the proposal with the following directions:
1. Your proposal document should be in the form of a Microsoft Word Document. All other forms of digital documents will not be accessible (do not send your ideas in Apple Pages or in Google Documents at this time). Hard copy, or physically printed, proposals are not accepted at this time.
2. Your Word document should be formatted in font size 12 (Times New Roman), and double-spaced to make the document accessible to sight-impaired Executive Board members (e-reader friendly).
