JJ Jones

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Chair

JJ Jones is a doctoral candidate in Communication & Information Sciences at the University of Alabama, where they specialize in queer rhetoric, bodies, intimacies, and digitality. Additionally, they hold a Master's degree in American Studies and a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, both focused in histories of gender and sexuality and human rights.

 

Their dissertation is focused on a rhetorical and cartographic analysis of domestic trans migration and anti-trans legislation in the U.S., particularly looking at the interstices of embodiment, citizenship, and the concept of “home” among the internally displaced.
